Prof. Mohamed Benbouzid University of Brest, France (IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow) Mohamed Benbouzid received his BSc degree in electrical engineering from the University of Batna in Algeria in 1990 and his MSc and PhD degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble in France in 1991 and 1994, respectively. He also obtained his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches degree in 2000 from the University of Picardie Jules Verne located in Amiens, France. After receiving his PhD degree, he joined the Professional Institute of Amiens at the University of Picardie Jules Verne, where he was an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering. Since September 2004, he has been with the University of Brest in France, where he is a full professor of electrical engineering. Professor Benbouzid is also a distinguished professor and a 1000 Talent Expert at the Shanghai Maritime University in Shanghai, China. His main research interests and experience include analysis, design and control of electric machines, variable-speed drives for traction, propulsion, renewable energy applications, and fault diagnosis of electric machines. Professor Benbouzid has been elected as an IEEE fellow for his contributions to diagnosis and fault-tolerant control of electric machines and drives. He is also a fellow of IET. He is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal on Energy Conversion and the applied sciences (MDPI) section on electrical, electronics, and communications engineering. He is a subject editor for the IET Renewable Power Generation. |
Assoc. Prof. Qian Xiao Tianjin University, China Qian Xiao received the Ph.D. degree and worked as a lecturer at Tianjin University, where he is currently an associate professor (exceptional promotion) and Ph.D. supervisor. He is on the “World's Top 2% Scientists List” issued by Stanford University and Elsevier database, Candidates of Youth Talent Program of China Association for Science and Technology, Deputy Director/Secretary of the China-British Joint Research Center for Electric Vehicles and Energy Internet of Tianjin University (Tianjin “Belt and Road Initiative” Joint Laboratory), Core backbone of Energy Storage Equipment and System Center of Tianjin University’s National Energy Storage Technology Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform, Expert for Tianjin Academician Expert Collaborative Innovation Center. He has been awarded 2020 (the First Session) Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award of China Power Supply Society (7 items in China, the only one in Tianjin), 2022 Selective Introduction of Postdoctoral Science Funding Winners (100 items in all majors in China, the only one in Tianjin), long-term visiting scholar of Tsinghua University (2023.09-2024.10) and Aalborg University, Denmark (2018.10-2019.11), IEEE Senior Member, Fan-Ke Outstanding Review Experts for Postgraduate Dissertations, and Advanced Society Worker of Tianjin Science and Technology Association.
His research interests include distributed energy and distribution network/microgrid, power electronics technology (multilevel converter, etc.) and its application in integrated energy systems and energy internet, battery energy storage systems, application of artificial intelligence, and other power electronics-based power systems topics. He is the principal investigator of 15 items of representative governmental-supported fundings, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program and Youth Program), Joint Funds of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and State Grid Corporation of China (Key Program), Subproject of National Key Research and Development Program of China, Joint Funds of Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation (General Program), China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (Special Foundation Program and General Program), the Key Program of Open Project of State Key Laboratory of Power System Operation and Control of Tsinghua University, Tianjin Enterprise Science and Technology Commissioner Project, Program of Education and Teaching Reform, and etc. As the first author or corresponding author, he has published more than 20 papers in top SCI journals (top 20% on Journal Citation Ranking from the Chinese Academic of Science), including more than 10 top IEEE Trans. Papers (1 ESI highly-cited paper). As the first inventor, he holds more than 10 granted invention patents (including one international invention patent), 3 national software copyrights, and 1 licensed patent. He has been awarded 1 item of First Prize and 5 items of Second Prize of the ministerial and provincial-level awards, including the Second Prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award in 2023 (ranking 1st) and 2022 (ranking 2nd), respectively.
